Mikel Izquierdo

Dr. Izquierdo is Full Professor in the field of Physiotherapy and Biomechanics of Physical Activity, and Director of the Health Sciences Department at the Public University of Navarra (Spain). Since 1997 he is professor of the Master Degree in High Performance in Sports (Spanish Olympic Committee).
He has realized research stays in the Neuromuscular Research Center of the University of Jyväskylä (Finland), and in the Human Performance Laboratory of the University of Connecticut (USA).
He has directed several research projects focused on Biomechanics and Neuromuscular System, with special interest in the study of the effects of strength training and muscle power in different sports, aging and frailty, special populations (diabetes and obesity) and the muscular performance.
Actually he has more than 150 indexed publications (JCR), in the field of Physical Activity and Sports Sciences, Physiotherapy and Biomechanics.

Dr. Izquierdo participated at the X International Symposium of Strength Training with the presentation entitled "DEFICIENCY SYNDROME OF PHYSICAL EXERCISE IN THE FRAIL ELDERLY: TOWARDS A NEW ERA IN THE ACCURACY OF THE PRESCRIPTION OF PHYSICAL EXERCISE FOR HEALTH".

Dr. Izquierdo participated at the III International Symposium of Strength Training with the presentation entitled "ROLE OF STRENGTH TRAINING IN AGING AND IMPROVEMENT POPULATION´S HEALTH".
