Information and guidelines for abstract submission

The abstracts for evaluation should be submitted through the online abstract submission system (see instructions at the end of this guideline). The authors should indicate their preference for presenting: oral communication, poster, or no preference. The deadline for submitting abstracts is October 31st 2018. Being registered at the Symposium is not requested for submitting the abstract, but first author will have to be registered before November 16th for final acceptation. Thus, the studies will include in the book of abstract. When receiving the confirmation of acceptance and the assignment for poster or oral communication, assistances will have time to register with the reduced registration fee.

ABSTRACTS

  • All submitted abstracts will be considered for “poster” presentation. The abstracts that apply for oral presentation will be evaluated by the Scientific Committee, and the 12 best abstracts will be selected for “oral communication”.
  • The oral presentations will last 15 minutes: 10 minutes for presentation and 5 minutes for questions.
  • The posters presentations will last 4 minutes: 2 minutes for presentation and 2 minutes for questions. The posters should have an A1 size (84,1 cm height x 59,4 cm wide). The posters will be presented during the coffee breaks.
  • The accepted abstracts will be published in the Symposium book of abstracts.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR AUTHORS:

  • The topic and data of the studies must be original (not presented or published previously) and linked with relevant and original aspects regarding personal training and physical activity and health.
  • The inclusion of a Practical Applications section is required, allowing the assistants to apply the results and conclusions of each work in their professional scope.
  • Abstracts (including Introduction, Objectives, Methods, Results, Conclusions and Practical Applications) are restricted to 400 words (not including title, authors, affiliations and references).
  • The maximum number of references is 6 for each work.
  • The maximum number of authors is 8 for each work.
  • The title, and name and affiliations of the authors should be in bold letters. The text should be in Calibri 10.
  • The abstract should not contain tables or graphs.
  • Format file: Microsoft Word or equivalent is preferred.
  • Presenting author: Indicate his/her name and contact details (e-mail and phone number required) at the end of the abstract. His/her will be the only one for receiving the information regarding acceptance of the abstracts and/or any other correspondence. The Scientific Committee will contact with the principal author, who he/she should be the corresponding author.
  • For all the accepted works (both posters and oral communications), first author will have to be registered for the Symposium and will present the study.
  • The submission of more than one abstract as first author is not allowed. However, one author can be co-author of other abstracts.
  • Language: English and Spanish are both official languages of the Symposium; therefore, abstracts can be written in any of them.

An editable example of an abstract can be found in the following link. A reference manager incorporating the bibliographic style (APA 6th) is recommended (Endnote/procite, Reference Manager, etc.).

AWARDS:

The best three oral communications ant three posters will be awarded. In order to be awarded it is a necessary condition that the first author, or a representative of the first author, be present at the awards ceremony. The Scientific Committee may exclude from awards all those works that do not comply exhaustively, in content or format, with the aforementioned regulations.

REGISTRATION TO THE ONLINE ABSTRACT SUBMISSION SYSTEM:

Follow the next instructions to be registered in the event:

  1. Go to www.simposiodefuerza.es and click on “register”. You will be addressed to https://eventos.upm.es/17981/detail/xi-simposio-de-actualizacion-del-entrenamiento-de-fuerza.html.
  2. Go to “Documents” and click on “My docs”. Note that you should be registered to continue.
  3. Click on “Access” to fill in the form with your personal data and complete the registration process.
  4. This process does not imply any fee payment. It is only for sending your abstract.
