University of North Carolina Dr. Hackney is a Professor of Exercise Physiology and Nutrition in the College of Arts and Sciences, School of Public Health, and Medicine at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He has graduated in Health and Kinesiology from Berea College (USA), has a Master degree in Exercise Physiology from Kent State University (USA) and has a Ph.D. in Exercise Physiology and nutrition from Kent State University (USA). His research group studies how stress (physical, environmental, and emotional) affects the hormonal responses of the endocrine system. In particular, his focus is upon the dysfunctions and dysregulations that develop from stress exposure(s) which can ultimately compromise physiological responses and adaptations. He has over 300 published peer-reviewed research papers and book chapters. He has also conducted research projects funded by the National Institutes of Health, the Department of Defense, USAID, and the National Academy of Sciences. Dr. Hachey participated at the XIV International Symposium of Strength Training with the presentation entitled "PHYSIOLOGY OF SEX HORMONES: FEMALE ATHLETES CONSIDERATIONS". |
